What is Experimental Pharmacology Series (Ex Pharm Series)

This is a computer assisted learning (CAL) package containing various programs which simulate animal experiments in Pharmacology. These programs can be used to demonstrate drug on different animals systems. The package is user friendly, highly interactive and full of animated sequences which make simulation appear realistic. The current version of Experimental Pharmacology Series (Ex-Pharm series) Software consists of following computer simulated experiments:

01. Experiment on effects of various drugs (Mydriatic, Miotic and Local Anaesthetic) on rabbit's eye.

      - The Effect of epinephrine, acetylcholine, atropine on the arterial pressure (dog-blood pressure).

      - Simultaneous analysis of effect of different drugs on dog heart rate and blood pressure.

      - Effects of drugs on blood pressure (vasopressor and vaso-depressors with appropriate blockers.

 

25. Bioassay of Acetylcholine on the isolated rectus abdominis muscle of frog

For whom is the software?

Software is aimed for medical, pharmacy and dental undergraduate students. The software can also be used by the students of paramedical courses such as nursing, medical laboratory technology and physiotherapy etc.


Why it is Necessary:

As per National Medical Commission
NMC has issued MSR for Medical Colleges through Gazette Notification, Dated 29 Oct 2020. The mentioned regulations has stated that pharmacology experiments should be done by computer assisted learning software (Please see page number 64 & 75).

As per Medical Council of India

MCI has issued guidelines through Gazette Notification No. MCI-34(41)/2013-Med./64022; Dated 19 March 2014. The mentioned guidelines has stated that “For teaching Physiology and Pharmacology in UG curriculum, the required knowledge and skills should be imparted by using Computer Assisted modules”.

As per Pharmacy Council of India

a. PCI has issued guidelines through Gazette Notification No.10-1/2012- PCI; Dated 25 August 2014. The mentioned guidelines has stated that “Wherever animal experimentations are prescribed in the curriculum, the required knowledge and skill should be imparted by using computer assisted modules”.

b. PCI (Pharmacy council of India) has issued the latest notification, Dated : 25 Nov 2019, Ref. No: 10-1/2019-PCI (PT-  1)/6644-46 (Letter Attached) as per that " Wherever animal experiments are being conducted using simulations, the requirement of Animal House & registration with CPCSEA is not Required for such institutions"


c  PCI - Proposed Amendment Notification in Education Regulation - Recommending Ex Pharm Software (See Page No: 33- Point 5)

As per Central Council of Indian Medicine 

The Latest CCIM Syllabus for Post graduate Course in Ayurved has  Recommended Experimental Pharmacology Software as Recommended Material in Point No: 12(14) of Drug Research & Development Recommended tools. This software also covers the syllabus of point number - 5 of 1st YR syllabus of research methodology.
